Learn the Ways of Roulette
Roulette is a pretty interesting casino game of chance. It is characterized by three things: a table, a wheel, and a ball.
A Roulette table is not your ordinary table. It reveals a layout that is the source of winning combinations. The Roulette table shows off two betting areas - inside and outside. The inside betting area is composed of the same set of numbers found on the wheel. The outside betting area, meanwhile, is composed of Roulette odds like the three groups of twelve, red/black boxes, odd/even numbers, and other different number groups.
The Roulette wheel, on the other hand, is also not your ordinary wheel. It contains numbers from 0 to 36 boxed in either red or black background. The American adaptation of Roulette (the game was originally from Europe) gave birth to a 37-slot Roulette wheel. The extra slot, containing 00, is there to boost the House edge.
The Roulette ball, now this is ordinary. It is thrown out the opposite direction that the wheel is rolled. As it stops, it separates the winning bets from the losing bets.
Roulette is all about the bets. If you are to play this game, you must understand the different bets including their risks and advantages. The highest paying bet is of course, the straight bet where you make an inside bet, say on the number 17, and you hit it right on. The straight bet pays 35 to 1. However, it is very risky to make an inside bet of this kind because you get very little chance of hitting it. If you want to be safe, you can make combination inside bets where you are counting on hitting at least any one of your target numbers.
A Roulette players' other option is to make outside bets. The numbers on the wheel are grouped in different ways as different outside bets. Betting on the first dozen, for example, means that you get a payout of 2 to 1 if the ball lands on any of the numbers 1 to 12.
A game of Roulette is supervised by a Dealer who handles the bets, the release of the ball, the roll of the wheel, and the awarding of payouts. Take note that you can still place your bets even when the wheel is rolling. The Dealer, however, will make signs when it is time to stop placing bets.
Roulette is a game of luck. Regardless of how many experts claim they have the surest system to win at this game, the fact remains that it is only pure chance that will dictate the outcome of each spin of the wheel.
